    Great article and interesting perspective! Some additional thoughts... Although Artificial Intelligence is positively impact the legal profession, there remains a need for human input. I tend to think the greatest benefit of AI is to enable more assistive tech-driven functions, so professionals are equipped to do their jobs more efficiently and at considerable cost savings, with far more transparency over the process. Our eDiscovery company, Esquify esquify.com , is the first to do this in the litigation sector with the previously tech-devoid, manual document review process. It’s one example of an assistive AI process at work that has won several tech community kudos. Our AI/machine learning tech supervises doc reviewers, simultaneously and at scale. It’s like having a supervisor for every reviewer. The machine can interpret and learn, so it knows what is productive and proper use of time and what is not. The upshot: improved efficiency, productivity, quality control and ultimately unprecedented cost savings for clients making tech assists solutions like this a win for everyone.     In the second paragraph under "So What the Hell is AI in Law?" the reference to Introspection should be to Intraspexion, which is at intraspexion.com. The description is not quite on target. We train a deep learning algorithm to identify certain types of litigation risks, e.g., employment discrimination. There are no emails in the training data. Then the system scans enterprise emails and reports high scoring risks to a list of in-house counsel. Once they have the early warning, they can decide whether or not to open a confidential investigation. This new capability is why one of the leaders of the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium has described our work as the construction of a new and wonderful world for in-house counsel. Patent pending.
